A Day at the Denver Zoo

Mom and I had a super fun day with our friends Ashley and Xander at the Denver Zoo last week.  The animals were so awesome.  We ate lunch near the pink flamingos, screamed at the monkeys, kissed the polar bear (thru the glass) and even rode the train.  What a day!!!

Thank You for the boat ride

We had a fun morning on the lake with our good friends Barb & Hank Kinney.
Thanks for the ride!  See ya next summer.

Missing them so much

Grandma Bev went to Heaven in November and Grandpa Fred in July.
I know they're both watching over me now, but I sure do miss them.

Check out my new ride!

Pop bought me this cool new ride at the antique show in Clear Lake.  Pretty cool, eh?!

Baxter's First Camping Trip

Camping with Baxter.  Well we tried it....LOL.
After our group finished several days on the backpacking trail, Fritz, Harvey and Baxter met us at Kite Lake near Breckenridge for a one night stay.  It was quite chilly, but Baxter was a champ.  He had fun walking (I mean running!) the trails with 'monkey'.  But when it was bedtime, he was a bit stir crazy.  He did hot laps around the inside of our tent before finally nestling down.  After sleeping for just a bit, he had enough.  In order to avoid waking up the entire campground, Baxter and I made our way back to the truck to spend the rest of our night.  He slept OK there, but kept waking up to see if the sun was up.  When he woke up to daylight, and people getting ready to hit the trail, a huge smile appeared on his face.  Wish I had taken a few more pictures...next time.

Our Florida Visitors

We had a great visit from my cousin Shanna and her family from Florida - most of whom had never been to Colorado.  We covered a lot of territory in just 10 days but Baxter seemed to enjoy every minute of it...as did we!

Sweet Dreams

I caught Baxter asleep with his hand still in his snack cup.  So cute!

At the Pool with the boys

We had a great day at the pool with friends.  The boys - Baxter, Xander and Carter - love hanging out together.  And Grandma Spittal (Deb's Mom) was there too!

Baxter has a new cousin

Miller Vaughan was born to my sister Julie and her husband John on July 11th.  Baxter is thrilled to have a cousin in Colorado.

Dog Lover

Baxter is a natural dog lover...with a little help from his parents.  Ha Ha

Choo Choo

Baxter's favorite book right now is called Freight Train.  We all know the words by heart and he loves saying "choo choo".  During our few days spent in the Minneapolis area, we found an old train offering rides by the lake.  What a thrill to take a ride on the "train that runs along this track".

Outing Club Hat Party

At the kickoff of each season at the Outing Club, someone hosts an opening day party.  This year the theme was a "hat party" so Fritz, Baxter and I searched our cottage for something to wear.  Here are a few photos of our selections.  Good times!

4th of July at the Lake

We were in Clear Lake for the 4th of July this year...what a magical place!
Baxter had a great time playing with all of the kids (adults too)
and participating in the lawn games.

Here are a few photos to give you a glance of our special day.
Hope yours was a memorable one too!

Since it was too steamy to really enjoy the parade, we strolled down to the splash park by city beach. And for the 1st time...Baxter REALLY got it.  To see his face as he touched the water and realized he could run right through it was a memory I'll never forget.  The pure wonder, thrill and joy all wrapped up in a moment.
